Keywords or search phrases are what people search for on Google.
You create ads within your adwords account, these ads will appear beside search results that are relevant to the ads.
Because the ads are relevent to the search phrase people are viewing, more often than not those people would be interested in what you are advertising.
People can simply click your ad to make a purchase or learn more about you. It is that easy!
You can edit your ads and adjust your budget until you obtain the results that you want. You can also display a variety of ad formats and even target your ads to specific languages and geographic locations.
Measurable value
There is no minimum spending requirement or time commitment. And with the cost-per-click option, you are only charged if people click your ads. This means that every dollar of your budget goes toward bringing new prospects to you.
Example
You create an ad within your adwords account. The ad contains a link to your website.
You submit a keyword "my keyword" and bid $0.50 cents if anyone clicks on your ad.
Provided on how popular the keyword is, your ad will display on the first page of Google search results and when anyone clicks the ad Google will bill you $0.50cents.
If your keyword were to be searched 500 times each day, your ad would be displayed 500 times. If your ad attracted a click 4 times for every 100 people who saw it, you would have received 20 visitors to your website from the 500 searches.
Those 20 visitors would have cost you $10.00
Controls
There are many controls within an adwords account that will allow you to change ad format, how much you are prepared to spend, how much you bid for keywords and many more.
Tracking Performance
It's easy to monitor your campaigns for profitability. In its simplest form you will know how much you have spent and you will know how many leads or sales you acheived from the campaign.
Google Adwords provide full analysis and reports for all your campaigns, providing you the tools to make managed decisions on how your advertising dollars are being spent.
There is no other advertising medium that we know of that can provide such information.
